#FlipGrid Fever is a 'real' Twitter hashtag! Many teachers love to use FlipGrid, which allows students to respond to questions via video. Students can watch and comment on each other's videos (if you choose) to increase learning and understanding. FlipGrid has recently become a completely free product to all teachers, thanks to Microsoft's purchase this summer!
FlipGrid ensures:
Our colleagues in World Language have been using FlipGrid for some time now. They ask students questions and have them respond in the language they are learning. As a result, Cynthia Laflamme will be leading the FlipGrid session during our Mini EdTech Camp on Tuesday, November 13th. Join her to learn more about using FlipGrid in the Classroom!

How to Use FlipGrid
The video below produced by Richard Byrne from FreeTech4Teachers does a great job explaining how to use FlipGrid. You can make a Grid for each class, and create topics within each Grid!
Personal Experience
Your Grid will be filled with videos from students in your class. It will look a little like this FlipGrid designed to promote sessions at the recent MASSCue conference where Brian and I presented.
While I have used FlipGrid with teachers, and have viewed student results, I experienced being the 'student' when Brian & I had to create a FlipGrid to promote our session. Here are a couple of my takeaways:
- I'll have to admit I was uncomfortable being videoed- but I got over it!
- While it took us 2 minutes to write our script, it took us 30 minutes to video it. (Mostly because of me!) Our attempts at videoing in the Learning Commons provided LouAnn and Robin with a lot of entertainment!
- FlipGrid allows you to place 'stickers' on your selfie that show in the Grid. My initial reaction was 'Students will spend all their time picking stickers, and less time on the content. I would shut that off.' Having experienced it, I would keep the stickers - Brian and I had a good time with them, it didn't take long, and it made the experience fun!
