I keep hearing about the great sessions people attended at the Mini EdTech Camp. I am really glad that teachers found it valuable! There were so many great sessions to attend, and we are fortunate to have so many talented instructors on our faculty.
One of the Mini EdTech Camp sessions, Tell Aspen Who's the Boss, covered a tool each of us uses every day. A couple of quick preference changes provides you more data, more efficiently. I thought I would share them with everyone! (Thank Anthony Beckwith for first noticing them when Aspen was updated a couple weeks ago!)
Adds the icon in blue that contains the student's Demographic information: Parent email & phone, home address.
Adds a second tab to this icon, providing a student's current year academic courses, teacher, and grades.
Now teachers can easily see this information without navigating away from their primary work area.
Just a couple of quick changes can make a big difference!

Information Delivery
(Thank Brian Miller for this gem!) Scrolling from page to page in Aspen can be a pain. Who easily remembers the alphabet anymore? Change your preferences so you see 999 records per page, reducing the number of pages to scroll through!
While logged into Aspen, click on your name, and then the Set Preferences option.
Under the General tab (your default view), look for List Options>Records per page, and change the number to 999+. Be sure to click OK to save.
If you are working in an area that doesn't provide a search box, Command+F will activate one for you!
GradeBook - Student Information
(For teachers)
Teachers usually spend most of their time working in the GradeBook tab in Staff view. If they want additional information about a student, they often have to navigate away to the Student tab. Now, you have the ability to easily look up student information without leaving the GradeBook tab!
While in Aspen Preferences (accessed by clicking on your name>Set Preferences), click on the GradeBook tab.
Or, you can also access these preferences in GradeBook tab>Scores side tab by clicking the cog and selecting the Student Tab!
Checking this preference adds Alerts (where applicable) by all student names in Gradebook>Scores. It makes it easy to see each student's situation.
