If you have been responding to email today, you may have noticed something new. As you type, you may see some greyed out text that completes your sentence or thought. What is that?
If you like the suggested text, simply press your Tab key, and the text will be entered into your email! Continue typing, and the suggestion will go away!
Smart Compose provides huge potential time savings for anyone using Gmail for work! As with anything powered by Artificial Intelligence or machine learning, it will just get better the more you use it while drafting emails! The impact over the course of a year could result in hours or days of found time!
Smart Compose works in conjunction with the Gmail's Smart Reply that suggests short responses to emails after scanning the content of the email. (Again, powered by Artificial Intelligence!) They appear just above your toolbar in the text area.
Personally, I would not recommend turning it off. The tool will only improve with usage, and the time savings could mean days of found time for you over the course of a year!
Smart Compose!
Smart Compose is designed to help you draft emails from scratch more quickly. Using Artificial Intelligence, Google will suggest an ending to a thought or even an entire sentence. (Like 'Have a nice weekend!' if it's Friday.)If you like the suggested text, simply press your Tab key, and the text will be entered into your email! Continue typing, and the suggestion will go away!

I don't see this yet?
Most people at CCHS should see Smart Compose today. If you don't, you will see it shortly. Try closing your browser and re-opening Gmail to see if refreshing the browser provides you with the tool!
Don't love it?
You can turn Smart Compose off in your Gmail settings. Click your cog located on the top right-hand side in Gmail, click Settings, and turn Smart Compose off using the setting under the General tab.Personally, I would not recommend turning it off.
